Project Overview

Lynkaz's platform connects two groups of users: vendors, and the companies and individuals who deal with them on contracts. It was running on AWS in Ireland. A client obligation required relocating to the UAE region, and a planned Dynamics 365 integration meant the new environment needed to be Azure-native from the start rather than a lift-and-shift. KPThink designed the target Azure architecture, sized and costed it for both development and production, and produced the operational runbooks (server provisioning, DNS, certificates, backups) needed to actually stand it up.

Client Requirements

  • 1Relocate the platform from AWS (Ireland) to Azure (UAE North) to satisfy a client data-residency obligation.
  • 2Design the environment to support a planned Dynamics 365 integration, not just replicate the AWS setup.
  • 3Cost out development and production separately, with and without reserved-instance discounts, before committing.
  • 4Document repeatable procedures for server provisioning, DNS, certificates, and database backup/restore.
From the Engagement

Architecture

The production architecture: server and database subnets, Nginx API routing, and shared services (Managed Identity, Application Insights, Key Vault), designed around the Azure Well-Architected Framework's reliability and security pillars.

Deep Dive

Key Features & Functionality

Explore the high-performance building blocks engineered to guarantee system-level efficiency and outstanding user adoption.

Golden-Image Server Provisioning

Documented a capture-and-provision workflow using Azure Compute Galleries, so new servers are built from a known-good image instead of configured by hand each time.

Certificate Chain via Key Vault + Nginx

Set up a wildcard-certificate chain sourced from Key Vault and wired into Nginx, so every application route is served over HTTPS with a single managed certificate.

Full Cost Model, Dev and Prod

Separate, itemized Azure cost estimates for development and production, including pay-as-you-go, savings-plan, and reserved-instance pricing side by side.

Business Results

Real-World Impact & ROI

Success is measured by outcome. Our partnership with Lynkaz delivered outstanding metrics that drove core business performance.

Architecture Decided Before Migration, Not During

Every Azure service, tier, and region was chosen and costed upfront (API Management, Application Gateway WAF, Function Apps, PostgreSQL Flexible Server, Redis, Key Vault, monitoring), so the migration had a concrete target instead of being figured out mid-move.

Dynamics-Ready From Day One

The target architecture was designed around the planned Dynamics 365 integration up front, rather than treating it as a retrofit after a plain lift-and-shift.

Reserved-Instance Savings Identified

Comparing pay-as-you-go against 1-year reserved pricing across the architecture surfaced roughly 17% in identifiable savings on the production environment before go-live.

Technical Problem Solving

Challenges & Engineering Solutions

Bespoke software has unique friction points. Read how KPThink's senior developers overcame core performance and API bottlenecks during construction.

The Challenge:

The existing AWS setup didn't map cleanly onto Azure's service model, and a straight lift-and-shift would have ignored the upcoming Dynamics 365 integration requirement.

KPThink's Solution:

Designed the target architecture around the future integration from the start (API Management and Function Apps for the integration surface, PostgreSQL Flexible Server and Redis for the data layer), rather than replicating the AWS setup as-is.

The Challenge:

No documented, repeatable process existed for provisioning new servers, managing DNS as the environment changed, or handling database backup/restore.

KPThink's Solution:

Wrote step-by-step runbooks for image-based server provisioning, DNS record management, certificate chain setup, and manual database backup/restore, so the client's team can operate the environment independently.
